Event Preview: Assistance League St. Louis's Eighth Annual Authors Brunch


Join us at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Missouri Athletic Club for Assistance League St. Louis's Eighth Annual Authors Brunch.

This year's local author is Antony John, the young adult novelist behind the Schneider Family Award-winning Five Flavors of Dumb, Thou Shalt Not Road Trip and start of a new series, Elemental.  He will be joined by guest author and adult novelist Thirty Umrigar.

Tickets are $60 (general) or $100 (patron) and must be purchased in advance by calling 636-227-6200 or by visiting the Assistance League's events page.  Copies of Antony and Thrity's books will be available for purchase and signing.  If you can't make it to the event, call Left Bank Books at 314-367-6731, ext. 1, to order signed, personalized copies.

Event Preview: Family Read Night: Poems to Learn by Heart with Caroline Kennedy


Join us at 7:00 p.m. on April 3, 2013, at St. Louis County Library--Headquarters when Caroline Kennedy will participate in the St. Louis County Library's Family Read Night with her new poetry compilation, Poems to Learn by Heart.

Poems to Learn by Heart is a companion to the New York Times bestselling A Family of Poems: My Favorite Poetry for Children and includes over 100 poems selected by Caroline to speak to people of all ages and experiences.  Inside, you'll find sections on family, school, nature, war and even nonsense, leaving something for everyone and every situation.  The collections are illustrated with paintings by Jon J. Muth (who will not be present).
