Event Preview: Raina Telgemeier

Join us for a discussion of Raina Telgemeier's latest middle grade graphic novel!

Callie loves theatre.  She has big ideas for the set design for her middle school play, from a tree with real falling leaves to a cannon that actually fires.  But when all the boys in her life start acting weird, the drama moves backstage.  Can Callie keep her head straight, her friends happy and confetti flying through the air?

Join us at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1, at Left Bank Books--Central West End for a discussion and signing of Drama with Raina Telgemeier!  If you aren't able to attend the event, you can still get a signed and personalized copy of the book by calling the store at 314-367-6731, ext. 1.

  1. I read this graphic novel a few weeks ago and while it didn't blow me away with surprising plot twists or amazing characters, it do think that it would appeal to middle school kids involved in drama, especially girls.

If you're looking for a gift for that tween in your life that loves High School Musical, this would definitely fit the bill.

  2. I agree. I also think it would make a great introduction to graphic novels for those who might think they're all superheros and science fiction and therefore aren't interested. I appreciated too the very realistic portrayal of middle school kids who don't really know yet who they are and what they want and who, at the end, (extremely mild spoiler alert) still don't really know, but are okay with that.
